Many people with MS have at least one additional illness (comorbidity) that is not MS or a complication arising from MS. Conditions such as depression, anxiety, diabetes, high blood pressure and other vascular diseases may contribute to poor MS outcomes. Moreover, the likelihood of comorbidities increases as people age. Managing these comorbidities, and preventing them where possible, is important in the overall care of people with MS.
